Facial Palsy UK: building a strategic trust fundraising programme

Mentoring and strategic planning for a small team. Results recorded in September 2020.

The brief

Facial Palsy UK had no clear trust fundraising strategy and was not applying to trusts efficiently. It had had some success, and wanted a regular programme of trust applications that its small, dedicated staff could manage.

What we did

We mentored the fundraising and management team and advised on strategic planning. We helped them develop their overall case for support and a template two-page request for support. We then guided them as they set up a rolling programme of applications, record keeping for trust fundraising, and clear processes.

Results

Nine grants worth £16,100 from thirteen applications, four of them from new funders.

Processes and record keeping now suited to trust fundraising, and better evidence of impact.

A team confident enough in applying to plan for larger grants.

"We are also better at collecting evidence of impact as a result of their consultancy. The questions they asked made us challenge the way we do things and seek to improve."
