The Prince of Wales Hospice: interim trust fundraising for a capital project

Interim trust fundraising to protect momentum on a capital project. Approved October 2019.

The brief

Internal promotions at the Prince of Wales Hospice led to a review of the staffing of its fundraising team and a search for a new trust fundraiser. Recruitment was taking longer than expected, and that was affecting momentum on its revenue income and its ability to secure match funding for an ongoing capital (equipment) project.

Moving existing staff to cover the gap would have cost it other income-generating activity.

What we did

We were appointed to build a case for support and a budget for the capital project, refresh an existing case for unrestricted income, and prepare applications, proposals and letters for both. An interim associate trust fundraiser did the work.

A significant number of applications were made, including 70 unrestricted proposal letters.

Results

Capital and unrestricted cases for support, written for trust fundraisers.

A significant number of applications and proposals made, including 70 unrestricted proposal letters.

At least one had succeeded when the results were recorded, with replies still awaited.

The momentum of the trust programme was kept up until the hospice's new trust fundraiser came into post.

"Our two consultants were lovely to work with. She got on really well with programme staff, getting the best information out of them that she could."
